Working
There isn't much to do in Oxford during the summer, so I've mostly been working a lot. I did go home last weekend, and I had fun roller-blading with Josh and Dan. Josh has said that he would like to do some development on Taco HTML Edit, so we went to Borders and got him a good Cocoa book. I've got to figure out how to set up a repository for the source code; I may need to talk to my server guy about a few things.
After seeing Star Wars Episode III a few weeks ago, I got out my old videotapes of IV, V, and VI and watched those over the past couple days. There are seemingly a few inconsistencies in the stories. For example, in Episode VI, Leia says that she faintly remembers her mother, but that her mother died when she was very young. Well, from Episode III, we can say that very young is when she is about 2 minutes old, so it would seemingly be difficult to have any memories from her first 2 minutes of life. Maybe, we can give the force credit for that one ;).
As far as work goes, it is pretty much the same old stuff. I've got simulated soccer players moving around a simulated field; now, it's time to replace their rudimentary self-localization algorithm with a more advanced one. I'm still waiting for my Windows laptop to show up.
Oh yeah, I guess I should toss in my two cents about Apple's upcoming switch to Intel processors. For the average user, the short term effect should be minimal, and the long term effect should be cheaper hardware with better performance. The main potential problem involves software. There will be emulation included that allows PowerPC software to run on Intel, but users may need to download (in some cases, buy) updated software to get good performance on their Intel hardware. Of course, it is not uncommon to buy new software when getting a new computer, so maybe this is not such a big deal. As long as developers aren't fools, current PowerPC hardware should be supported long into the future. It is not difficult to support both PowerPC and Intel. The Linux folks have done it, and Apple has made it even easier for Mac OS X developers. Of course, I will need to compile and test Taco HTML Edit on Intel, which means that I will need access to an Intel Mac at some point. Actually, Taco HTML Edit would probably be pretty snappy under emulation, so I can take my time on that one. However, there is this other project I'm working on that can't be emulated...

Not an "Intel Mac", you mean "Mactel"...
Oh crap, I'm going to be sued.
In other news: I finally got Tiger. Yay!
